HOME OF THE BRUENS....RATHS AND FORTS ..suggested in literature to be the lokely home of ICNUS and BROIN

These RATHS ,Thee large in particular are reported to be the home base of the eponymous ancestors of the Bruens,ie. The home of ICNUS BROINS father and likely. Bron.

There is not much to see but you might enjoy. A look.

 

The location is ARDABRONE (Height of the Broins)

Obviously near ARDABRONE in Sligo and very near where ST Patrick meet Broin. Also a favorite Pub and VERY simple rooms at AUGRIS HEAD. I much recommend especially weekends when rthere. Is must When you get there you think your at the en of the world but its only a short distance from Sligo Town.

It is also the embarkation port for the few who went to INISMURRAY

 

It needs to be pointed out that wether Incus or Broin had their family home at Ardabrone(aka ardnabrone)

The original ,original home of the Bruens was further north most likely in an area where Fermanagh and Louth meet.

this document is very rare ,i could find only one library in the world(on line) that had a copy ...Univ of Notre Dame.
It is not a book per se but a compilation of articles posted in a small local Irish newspaper in 1930.
It is however, for those interested in SP in North west Ireland ,fantastic.The academic quality is superb,citing and contrasting the main seminal documents :Tirechan in the Book of Armagh 600-700,and the "Tripartite Lives" 1000-1200.
As well as evaluating the comments of the experts in modern times 1800-2000.
Unfortunately  the software for transferring scanned pages was faulty and page 8 is out of sequence appearing at the end suffers.But all pages are there.
Also the centering of the pages  is awkward and sometimes the adjusting tabs are somewhat hidden.When given the choice choose "original size"
again ,for those interested there is no better source and well worth the effort.
