Reference to Bishop Broin appear not infrequently in the history and biographies of Saint Bridget; not least the famous story of the woman who at a big conference of church leaders accused Broin of fathering her infant which she held in her arms.Bridget disposed of the issue by having the baby speak and the child denied the charges.
There are references and citations that Broin is the nephew of Saint Bridget.His mother Cuman(had 47 children?)was the daughter of Dallbhronach sister of Bridget. On one visit to Bridget ,Bron returned back to Caiseal Iorra with a chrismal given to him by Bridget
St Bridget spent much of her early life in Faugart near Dundalk in Louth .It is here that the church of Castletown also known(earlier?) as Cill Broin was located
